So with 1.8 being the most popular update for a long time. I thought prehaps it would be a good idea to start considering the feasibility of conquest matches. As many of you may/may not know, most of the maps are only 1/25 of their maximum size.
Conquest matches are supposed to be massive however, what about the logistics? We are supposed to have things like bombers and fighters, globemasters with 2 full squads on them. Artillery turrets for tanks, all of that kind of thing.
So what about the MCC's surely they are gonna have to be bigger? What about the fighters where will they take off from?
Will MCC's have runways, or valkariy esque launch tunnels? Will MCC's be able to move? provide ground support to friendly troops?
How many people will be required to operate it? What about Communication, Squad Commands, organization, will that all be run from the MCC? What about the MCC will we be able to own our own ones? Will we be able to out fit them ourselves as corporations?
Will the goal of conquest even be to destroy the MCC? How long will they survive?

There is a lot less that needs fixing now then before, also would you rather spend all day whining about things? Or potentially give CCP something to work with so tney don't release more stuff that's broken?
It's a valid point about a gamemode that has been rumored to be under development. I want to know what people think? Should the MCC be bigger for these kind of gamemodes?
How do we facilitate the user of fighter aircraft which mau/may not have V/STOL capabilities? How does having an MCC nearby assist/support the team? Or do you just move it around to get shot less?

I though they might be, but bombers as well? And what about GlobeMasters?
Even if none of them REQUIRE a Runway, are you really just gonna call in an expensive fighter jet with very little tank at ground level, where tanks and lavs and remote explosives can get to them?
Also if not a Runway, "Helicopter Pads" Even then Imagine a Minmatar MCC with runway across it's roof or Caldari MCC with an Interior Runway and a Hamger Hatch.
It's as much about the FEEL as the ability.

Will the goal of conquest even be to destroy the MCC? How long will they survive? VTOL fighters and multiple moving MCCs. Multiple MCC's so how do you win, when you blow them all up? How are they are targeted? What benifits would each MCC provide? Which one is the commander in? Is there only one commander?

Aero Yassavi wrote:Something perhaps important to note is back when CCP Logicloop was still around he was discussing the possibility of redesigning the MCC's because they are too small. Perhaps that is partially why we haven't seen Amarr or Minmatar MCC's implemented yet - as well as the fact that the MCCs currently are part of the actual map (ever notice how the Gallente and Caldari MCC are always on the same side, even in FW), so having Amarr and Minmatar MCC's would require them to have a copy of every single map.
There would really have to be a fairly large update around MCC's. For one, making them objects that occupy a map rather than part of the map, and from there we can start seeing them move again. Also likely bigger revisions of the MCCs and hopefully with more internal spaces (and maybe coming close to something like Titan mode in BF2142). Further out I can see multiple MCCs per team as well as perhaps different classes of MCCs, ranging from the small class we have currently to really large classes.
Yes, Indeed. However the MCC's are important to immersion, especially for people like yourself, and adds to the general polish for the game. It would make sense for the MCC's to be much larger, especially considering the amount of capability they are meant to have.
Also imagine a 128 v 128 match where over 100 people spawn in the MCC, it'll be like sardines.

The cool thing is, we already have those (;
We do indeed, but not on the MCC I'm wondering if the MCC should be as much a forward staging area as it is a place to hold the commander.
As Aero suggested if people are gonna be trying to make incursions on these things we need a lot more than just a single room with a hole in the floor. We need it to feel like these things are intergral to our opponents offense/defense, that these things are utilised.
I already Assume these MCC's will have Air to Surface weapon banks, so that having an MCC above you is like close Air Ground Support instead of just another place to spawn. What about the benifits of incursion?
Will you be able to disable tacnet? Retarget those weapon banks I just mentioned, hack drones to attack the MCC crew? How many will crew an MCC, just one commamder?

Yeah precisely, also facilitates incursions, better gameplay.

You know the border gulch, fractured road and Ashlands maps, the ones released in 1.4. They are all on the same battlescape a massive 5x5km map.
You can even see the maps from each other. Evemtualy we will be able to play across the whole 5x5km at a time.

Of course but within reason we still need to be unique.
The way I see it, we have multiple staging areas on MCC's one for infantry, ground vehicles and aerial vehicles. Allow you to spawn in, in safety, to call in vehicles without having to worry about some blueberry jumping in.
I imagine tne Infantry staging area to be filled with supply depots and MTAC holsters. With banks of drop zones for hundreds of people to drop out of at a time.
I imagine the Ground Vehicle Staging Area to filled with gantries suspended over individual drop zones, you select your vehicle from a console and its constructed on the relevant platform, get in and press square, you and whoever is in your vehicle is dropped like a tonne bricks.
I imagine the Aerial Vehicle Staging Area to be hive of activity, soilders running towards dropships and HTAVs, fighters launching AA guns firing off at enemy bombers.

O YesYesYesYesYesYesYes....Yes x9000 Yes alot of the PC now is way to much like a pub game and do,s not even uses the rest of the map. when i dream of PC i think of 4 - 6 teams all in the same map at the same time in there own battle and the out come is base off of numbers and movement of troops from one battle zone to help the next one on a big map where you can pick where and how to take over or defend .
Well with 128v128 that's 21 fulls squads. I would imagine real squads consist of 4 fire-teams (standard squads) which can be communicated to via hyrechical communication.

I would say automated turrets, both AA and AG, but then have manned artillery turrets as well. That allow you to provide ground support to nearby troops in the area.

Well there has been rumours that conquest matches were being consodered, however the smaller playerbase would probably currently limit them to PC battles as their wouldn't be enough players in pubs.
I imagine we will get a few "objective" based gamemodes, like seige or escort that will in time link to both PC meta and EvE online.

I imagine we will get a few "objective" based gamemodes, like seige or escort that will in time link to both PC meta and EvE online. In the current system it would probably happen like that but honestly they need to do a separate system to account for new and more diverse game modes. Public contracts are random and you can only control the game mode. FW contracts only deal with the empires. Corporation contracts are for your corporation's own contracts. Special Contracts are for CCP made contracts. Now...How TF are we going to do contracts for specific EVE corps? Or how are we going to do mission contracts from agents? The lobby only goes so far.
No doubt about it the current lobby system doesn't give much room for growth in terms of EvE dust interaction. It all depends on what you expect EvE players to give out contracts for.
The way I see it the Contract system will change to facilitate leaving your merc quarters. So Contracts are offered with local radius es.
So you have to travel to null sec to get null sec Public Contracts. Or you have to travel to Federal Defense Headquaters to pick up Gallante FW contracts.
Then the only contracts you can take DIRECTLY from your quarters are contracts you are "invited" to or are high sec PvE/PvP/Concord Missions
